Colombian schools should allow other types of beliefs?             Colombia schools still unify the Catholic religion as the only one and do not take into account the great ethnic and ideological diversity that exists in our country. According to Giroux, (2015): “Educators need a new language for addressing the changing context and facing issues and issues facing a world”. As Giroux states, educators should evolve through adversity. Technology is one of the main challenging issues that is taking part in the field of education. So, educators most play with the variables of technology, in order to fulfill the lack of awareness about the constant changing in the field of education, and in the context where they will teach. In one hand, educators should have new ways of facing the great amount of ethnic diversity of their students. Also, they ought to be aware that each pupil was raised in a different context. Besides, taking this ...

SEVENTH TASK How do you think we could empower our Colombian students to critically spot fake news? It is believed that Colombian students are lack of critical thinking due to the fact that academic goals are related to an exam that will take place in the eleven grade, and it's called "ICFES" exam. Furthermore, students from the beginning of their academic life, they are preprogrammed to follow certain parameters whose purpose is to present that exam. So, it means that they are not encouraged to think critically. For the system is easier to keep people in control. On one hand, teachers should do a lot of changes in the curriculum in order to help students to have a critical thinking about their context.  According to McLaren, P. (p.74) " Curriculum... it represents the introduction to a particular form of life; it serves in part to prepare students for dominant or subordinate positions in the existing society."  Taking this into account, students should ha...

SIXTH TASK  According to the video "Where is the OUtrage? Critical Pedagogy in Dark Times" education, politics, economy, among other schemes of the system, through all this time has kept the knowledge for a few ones. In addition, in the academic aspect according to what the video says, is that the educational system is already preprogrammed. So, it means that there is a social imbalance; For each social class, there is a different type of methodology and teaching in order to maintain the "natural" order of that society. Also, with the help of the critical pedagogy, it is sought to break these schemes, so that each individual or citizen has the possibility of taking part of the decisions of their context without being manipulated by the system.  In conclusion, the arduous work of teachers must be maintained to teach their students to think critically and to make constructive actions in the context in which they live. They should realize that they are the fut...

FIFTH TASK Stereotypes over time have focused on the social environment of a specific population. This means that at the global level, a certain community looks bad in accordance with certain myths that have been created by external agents to that community. It is said that these myths or stereotypes are created from certain relevant events that have left marks in the past and the history of that country or society. In a Colombian context, I have the experience that we are seen as drug dealers in others countries because of our past, Furthermore, it is believed that tourist people just travel to Colombia because of something that is called "Cannabis Tour", and also it is believed that Colombian women and even latin women are seen just as a sexual toy.   From my point of view, in order to break those stereotypes, as could be seen in the previous videos, we must internalize the desires and abilities of each individual, since each person is different, thin...
Fourth Task Should Chimpanzees Be Considered ‘Persons’? It's an introduction. - "You might be aware that chimpanzees can recognize themselves in a mirror, communicate through sign language, pursue goals creatively and form long-lasting friendships. You might also think that these are the kinds of things that a person can do. However, you might not think of chimpanzees as persons"       It's background information. -  "The Nonhuman Rights Project does. Since 2013, the group has been working on behalf of two chimpanzees, Kiko and Tommy, currently being held in cages by their “owners” without the company of other chimpanzees. It is asking the courts to rule that Kiko and Tommy have the right to bodily liberty and to order their immediate release into a sanctuary where they can live out the rest of their lives with other chimpanzees."   It's a position. -  The problem is that under current United States law, one is either a “person” or a “thing....
Critical and Creative Thinking Task 2 Tasks proposed by  Stella Cottrell (2005) in her paper  "What is critical thinking?" For me, the emotions that are most difficult to manage when others disagree with me are: Anxiety and frustration. I deal with these by : relaxing and taking deep breath in order to calm down, because I have to be conscious that every person has a different point of view and way of thinking. For me, the influences on my own thinking that I need to be most aware of  so they don't prejudice my thinking are : Conformism and criteria. I will deal with this by : accepting myself as something imperfect with prejudice as everybody else. Also, I'm always try to look for new information and knowledge, because I think that in this way I will grow wisely.  For me, the things I find most difficult about challenging the opinions of other people are : Religion ideologies and political ssues. I deal with these by : lis...
