Debatable question: Colombian schools should allow other types of beliefs?

INTRODUCTION (Thesis): Colombian schools still unify the Christian religion as the only one and do not take into account the great ethnic diversity that exists in our country.

PARAGRAPH 1. Colombian schools still unifying the Christian religion as the only one that exists in our country.

SUPPORTING IDEA. The Lord's Prayer is almost used in all Elementary schools in Colombia. I still remember that at my school in the very beginning teachers asked us to stand up and say the Lord's Prayer.

PARAGRAPH 2. Colombia is such a beautiful country with a great ethnic diversity, it means that exists different groups of people with other types of beliefs.

SUPPORTING IDEA. Other types of beliefs or religions should be respected and included in the process of learning in students because students should learn about other cultures, ideologies, and so on. Besides, professors should be prepared due to the fact of these situations because sometimes professors take for granted that their students are Christians.

PARAGRAPH 3. Christianity is not the only religion that are in Colombian schools, there are a lot of students whose families have different traditions. From a native point of view, Colombia has a great variety of indigenous people and those people have customs that are different from each region.

SUPPORTING IDEA. In addition, professors should have an important role in terms of the application of beliefs in classes. They ought to get closer individually to each student and know them well in order to do not discriminate them.

CONCLUSION. From my point of view and as a future teacher, I would like to take part in the change of allowing other types of beliefs in classes. I think that each student has an identity that it is shown to the rest of people.

    There must be a clear connection between the essay topic and the main critical theory concepts discussed in class. In the introductory paragraph the purpose and the thesis have to be clearly stated. Since it is an argumentative essay, the thesis treatment should be based on a balanced and well founded development of arguments and counter arguments, not merely personal viewpoints. The guidelines for this final assignment can be found in the eighth task of the instructor´s blog.
